Something is missing from the first season of the spin-off we wanted to love so much. I'm not going to sit here and say that I won't tune in for the finale that is without a doubt going to give us all what we've been waiting for, that would be a lie.I'm simply saying that they could have given us a little more Z action without compromising the storyline and character development one bit. I fully understand what they're going for with the slow build up, but writers need to remember what their audience actually tuned in to see and it wasn't a situational drama about the lives of a blended family in L.A. Let's take a look at this weeks episode The Threat There is a feeling of unease an distrust forming among the families toward the soldiers after they stormed into their homes removing loved ones and providing little information about their welfare. It was clear to see at the start of episode 105 that the situation was coming to a head, even the soldiers themselves were on the brink of a mutiny having been standing guard for over 50 hours with no sleep, and being push to their limits by Sargent Dick Wad. But is the army the real threat here? Liza gained some useful information in the hospital when Grizelda died, everyone comes back and the brain has to be destroyed. Good job! In my mind , they were doing the best they could to try and isolate the possible infected in order to save the lives of the ones who were clearly not. even understood the holding pins, but there was one thing I was very curious about.... Who is Strand? This mysterious stranger pops up and vogues for Nick, saving him from extermination. "You're not an addict, you're a heroine addict, that's the gold standard of addicts, don't sell yourself short." he said. "I could use a man of your talents." What does he wasn't from Nick and why? On IMd Colman Domingo is only listed to appear for episode 105, but he clearly can't simply disappear after this kind of introduction. My interest is peaked. How Much Is Too Much? I really wish you guys knew jus how badly I'd like to feel sorry for Nick right now, he's no doubt in over his head with his new friend Strand, and how much I want to care about the people who live in this world, but the fact is, I just don't. I'm angry with the writers for making these teens so bratty. I can understand that kids will tend to behave in a certain immature manner and to be authentic the writing had to be approached from that angle, but my God! what kids of kids are these guys hanging around.? Day 10 into the zompoc there breaking in peoples homes and playing dress up with their belongings , then vandalizing then when their done. What??? They've lost themselves already? weren't they just playing at the pool the other day? I'm a little lost on these youngsters I must say. I think if this were happening in real life, everyone would be a lot closer to mom and dad. That's how kids are when the shit really hits the fan, they want to feel safe. The idea that they've seen more traumatic things than most people in the course of a few days is not translating. Your neighborhood smells like death, you've seen people's heads being blown off, you've seen DEAD PEOPLE WALKING, and eating other people.... And you're board? WTF???? Secrets and Lies Now this part I really liked. All this time we thought Daniel was the victim of terrible atrocities that took place years ago, but as it turns out he was the committer of said atrocities and now all the skeletons are crawling out of the closet, because in times of crisis, the real you shows up.
This is the kind of writing that keeps me hanging on. Madison being on board with his sick little stunt just sweetened the plot. Torturing the soldier was the means to finding out what the word Cobalt meant to the military. the fact that they were going to raise up and leave the families to their fates. The soldier also let him know something else, and this was the best part, that he and some of the other soldiers had locked a bunch of people in the sports arena when they said that there were too many infected and they were unable to distinguish between the living and the dead. They just said to hell with it and chained the doors with everyone still inside. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our horde.... Finally.
